Thank you to everyone who has supported our Enlightened Gifts catalogue and website over the last year. Your generosity has enabled us to help newly arrived Tibetan refugee children at Tibet Homes Foundation, provide stipends to the elderly in the Dehra Dun area and support medical and social care for Tibetans needing medical attention in Chandigarh, along with other initiatives both inside Tibet and in India and Nepal.
This last year has been a very turbulent and difficult time for Tibetans inside Tibet and anxious times for those in exile, with little or no verifiable news of their families who remain in Tibet. There is continued grave concern for the humanitarian situation inside Tibet following the Chinese authorities’ brutal crackdown on Tibetans who, in a show of deep seated frustration and desperation of their continued subjugation under Chinese rule, took part in demonstrations in March and April 2008. In the coming months we will undoubtedly see a large influx of refugees entering Nepal and India which makes your support at this time even more crucial.
I do urge you to continue to help us with our vital work by taking a few moments to look at our website. You will find a variety of handicrafts, cards and books as well as “virtual” gifts such as warm clothing for newly arrived Tibetan refugee children. The handicrafts are all made or supplied by Tibetans in India and your purchases not only enable us to make a real difference to the lives of Tibetans both inside Tibet and in exile, but also help Tibetan initiatives to keep traditional crafts and customs alive. All profits go to Tibet Relief Fund’s general funds to be used wherever need is greatest.
Put compassion into action by supporting us today.
