Snow lion dance by Neville Hopwood

A monk wearing a snow lion mask takes part in a performance of the Cham dance at Ki Monastery, Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, India. Accompanied by music played by monks using Tibetan instruments, these dances are lively and exciting spectacles and were traditionally used to spread understanding of Buddhism through Tibet. They are also said to bring merit to all who observe them.
