The Panchen Lama’s Birthday Party

Please join us and the Tashi Lhunpo monks for what is set to be a very special evening, as we come together to celebrate the Panchen Lama’s 34th birthday.

Hosted by Tibet Relief Fund and Tashi Lhunpo Monastery UK Trust.

26th April @ 6PM

St Ethelburga's, 78 Bishopsgate, London, EC2N 4AG

25th April marks the 34th anniversary of the birth of the 11th Panchen Lama, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, but he has not been seen in public for 28 years since his abduction in 1995 at age six, making him the world’s youngest political prisoner.

This year, the monks from Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in India will be in the UK to mark Gedhun Choekyi Nyima’s birthday, before beginning their UK wide tour of sacred dance and chant between May and August. This will be the first time the monks have been outside India to celebrate the Panchen Lama's birthday. They will be making a Peace Mandala over two days to mark the occasion.  Full details of their tour can be found on the Tashi Lhunpo Monks 2023 Tour website.

The evening will include Tibetan food, a short talk by Khen Rinpoche, Abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, long-life prayers, the ceremonial destruction of the sand mandala, and of course, a birthday cake! All attendees will be given their own small pouch of the blessed sand.

We would be delighted if you could join us and be part of this special event

Tickets cost £14.47 each - to symbolise 1447, the year the Tashi Lhunpo monastery was founded in Tibet.

Any additional donation you choose to add on top of the ticket price will directly go to our work.
